The appointment
How a consultation runs
It's a conversation, and what happens next is your decision.
What you have noticed
You describe what has changed and what bothers you. What people point at and what's causing it are often different things, and getting that right is most of the job.
Assessment
I look at your face at rest and in movement, go through your medical history and any previous treatment, and explain what I see. You'll get a straight answer about what's realistic.
A plan, or not
You leave with a plan, a price and time to think about it. Sometimes the plan is a change of skincare and a review in six months, and that's a good outcome too.
Very little to prepare
Before you come
Come as you normally are, or without makeup if you'd rather. Bring a list of any medication and supplements, and details of any previous aesthetic treatment, even if it was years ago.
If there's a photo of yourself you keep coming back to, bring that too. It tells me more about what you'd like than a description usually does.
Afterwards
Aftercare and the review
If you go ahead, you leave with written aftercare and a two-week review already in the diary.
Please come to your review. It's how I see how your face has settled and plan what comes next.
Questions worth asking any injector
Facial aesthetics is lightly regulated in the UK. These are good questions to ask anywhere, with my answers.
Ask what the qualification actually required. I'm a dentist of over 30 years, GDC registered, with a Level 7 Diploma from the MATA Academy.
Your injector should explain the complications for your treatment and what they'd do about each. I go through them at your consultation, and you'll have my mobile number afterwards.
Medical indemnity insurance is a fair question. I'm fully insured for every treatment I offer.
You should always be free to take the plan away and think about it in your own time.

No, and it's often better to wait. Taking time to think is a sensible response, and I won't chase you about it.

Yes. Plenty of people bring a partner or a friend, particularly for a first appointment.

Bring the details. Some conditions and medications affect whether treatment is appropriate, when it can be done, or how likely you are to bruise. My dental and medical background is exactly why this conversation is worth having properly.

Please give me 48 hours' notice. Later cancellations are charged £50, and missed appointments £100.
