What lip enhancement is
Lips are the area most people want treated first, but I normally like to treat them after the face has been considered as a whole. The lips people admire are in proportion to the face around them, with a defined border, a visible cupid's bow and enough hydration to catch the light.
That usually needs less product than people expect.
Ageing lips
Lips from your forties onwards
From the forties onward the lip loses definition at the border, the area under the nose flattens, and vertical lines start to show. Filling the body of the lip usually makes this worse.
The better answer is often to restore the border and support the surrounding structure, so your lips look like yours again.
Loss of definition
A softened lip border makes lipstick bleed and the mouth look older. Restoring the border alone often does more than adding volume.
Dryness and dullness
Hydration changes how the lip catches the light. Some people need only this, and it's the most natural place to start.
Asymmetry
Almost every mouth is slightly asymmetric. Small corrections bring the two sides closer.
A flattened cupid's bow
The dip and peaks of the upper lip are what make it look youthful. They can be rebuilt with very small amounts placed precisely.
Vertical lip lines
The fine lines above the upper lip respond to a combination of support and skin treatment.

Not if we go slowly. I'd rather do two small appointments than one large one, because lips built up over time settle into the face naturally.

Lips swell more than anywhere else on the face. Expect noticeable swelling for two to three days, and a settled result at around two weeks. Avoid booking in the week before an event.

Often yes, but the goal changes. In older lips the aim is definition and support rather than volume. This is a good example of where the consultation matters more than the product.
